Like Mechas and spaces stations. You've such possibilities to have fun, especially with your friend.

Starbound excels as a crafting and exploration game, as a 2D platformer with varied and engaging combat, and as a Zelda-esque story RPG with a detailed world and memorable alien cultures to interact with. The sheer volume of different kinds of locations to discover, items to craft and build great structures with, and flashy ways to vanquish aliens prevent any part of the experience from getting boring quickly.

One thing major thing that caught my eye was the animations. They're beautiful, bouncy and fun to look at. Even swinging a sword feels good. Another major difference is that this ones more surface-based. You'll be finding yourself wandering on the surface a lot more which I personally enjoy, considering you may encounter npcs like avians or glitches, which are actually birds and robots.I encourage anyone questioning whether or not to purchase this to not be off put by reviews that say it's not worth it because its a Terraria clone. Many have said the same thing about Terraria and Minecraft in fact, that Terraria is just a 2D clone of Minecraft, which depending on your definition, really isn't. I say take a risk, spend a few bucks, and have a great time exploring the universe. Creativeness bursts within this game.

If Starbound has one major downside it’s that there is no pause button. A pithy consideration, I know, but it means if you’re exploring a cavern found deep within the recesses of a new planet, you cannot pause to take a much-needed bathroom break. And since enemies can spawn at any time, you can’t walk away from your computer in confidence, either. But the lack of a pause button almost feels apt: in Starbound, there can be no pause button, no way to suspend you from this childhood fantasy.

It's usually compared to Terraria, and rightfully so, and compared to the aforementioned If you've played that game you know what to expect. Differences (positive, negative, or neutral, your choice) include: Different species to choose from... the crafting system isn't as complex... there are more NPCs... it's slightly more quest-oriented... and it's in space...It costs more than Terraria so I suggest waiting for a Steam sale if you want to pick it up.Final thoughts: It's not original in the slightest. It costs more than Terraria so if you want to check it out wait for a sale. It won't take that many in-game hours to see most everything so it's not really worth $15. That said it's pretty fun for about a week so it gets a pass by a narrow margin.
